Curvy women take heart: The Full Fashion Exchange returns to South Florida for the sixth year, this Sunday, April 27.
The event for voluptuous and full-figured women will be staged from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Residence Inn Miami Aventura Mall in Aventura.
“When you walk in, it’s an intimate, fun atmosphere,” organizer Charlene Meriedy says. “There’s a DJ going, a bar, and vendors happy to show you their products. Everyone is sipping and shopping.”
Guests can also mingle with beauty queens. Miss Florida Plus America 2014 Elizabeth Latortue and Miss Florida Plus America Ambassador Ann Charleus will make appearances. Meriedy says there will be demonstrations on beauty and makeup application for fuller faces, and that the first 35 women through the door will get a swag bag.
“The fashion is not like a runway show,” Meriedy says. “It’s very hands-on. There will be a combination of informal modeling, as well as an upbeat fashion show, but right there among the women in chairs — more like a showroom kind of thing.”
Meriedy says the event is designed to be intimate. “I want the ladies to feel very comfortable with the vendors, so they can ask them personal questions. We have vendors for everything from body wraps and makeup and hair to jewelry and clothing. We give them as many new resources as they can use.

The plus-size fashion will come from Eve’s Treasures in Hollywood, Toshiba Fashions in Miramar, NY & CA Fashion Boutique in Miramar, the House of Tia Crystal in Boca Raton and Dress Barn in Pembroke Pines.
Guest speakers will address makeup color trends (Cecilia Muench of Inglot Cosmetics in Aventura); finding the perfect bra (bra fit specialist from Intimacy); fitness and nutrition (Angela Ezell of Crystal Clear Health & Wellness in Fort Lauderdale) and healthy skin and hair (Wilma Mulcare of Mulcare Skincare and Cosmetics in Hollywood) .
“We tell the ladies to be the best you can be, and be the healthiest you can be,” Meriedy says. “You can be full-figured and still be stylish, active and well.”
This edition of the Full Fashion Exchange is supporting Miami’s Safespace Foundation, a nonprofit that provides shelter and other aid to domestic-violence victims. Guests are encouraged to bring gently used clothing, shoes and accessories for donation.
