Music and dance fusion from Rajasthan, India

Since TV shows “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dancing with the Stars” started adding Bollywood-style routines, we all think that we know something about the traditional dances of India.

We do not.

But if you want to learn by seeing authenticity, then the Pembroke Pines-based Association of Performing Arts of India is stepping up with “The Rhythm of Rajasthan: Music and Dance of Rajasthan-India” this Saturday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m.

The performance of music and dance from the north Indian desert region is a fusion of Hindu and Muslim cultures that guide the audience to the roots of Indian music.

The “Rhythm of Rajasthan” will be at the Quality Inn Sawgrass Conference Center, 1711 N. University Drive in Plantation. Tickets are $30 general admission and $40 V.I.P. To order, go to APAIart.com.
