Brewmaster Massimo Salvatori of Rome's Birradamare beers is coming to Macchialina in Miami Beach. The Italian gastropub will offer guests a choice of pizza or an appetizer, both cooked with the visitor's beers, during a happy-hour meeting with the brewmaster.
Salvatori will be around from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, to answer questions about his brews. Birradamare beers are made in Rome and all of them are bottle-conditioned, meaning they are refermented in their bottles, creating a smooth carbonation resulting uniquely from this technique.
Macchialina regularly carries a selection of Birradamare products, but two beers will be paired Thursday. Although choices aren't yet final, says rep John Linn, the beers available will most-likely be the Nera schwarzbier (dark lager) and the Roma marzen (Oktoberfest style).
They are traditional German styles, but the brewer's sure to discuss his company's Italian touch. The brewery is food-oriented; all bottle labels have pairing information.
At the happy hour, guests can buy one bottle to split in two take-home glasses, and pair the beer with one of the food choices. For pricing information, call the restaurant at 305-534-2124.
