Palm Beach Kennel Club will hold its finale to Breast Cancer Awareness Month Saturday afternoon.
Throughout October, the Kennel Club has been selling “On Track To Beat Cancer” T-Shirts and bracelets for $20 and $1, respectively, according to a kennel club press release.
In addition, the track has held eight special charity races, with all profits going to local cancer charities, which include the American Cancer Society, National Canine Cancer Foundation (South Florida Chapter), The Kelly Rooney Foundation, Northwood University’s Dig Pink and Connie Vanderwey Memorial Scholarship.
Other activities on Saturday include:
* Free admission for all who wear pink;
* The “On Track To Beat Cancer” Track Walk will begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. All who participate in the Track Walk wearing their Pink Beat Cancer T-Shirts (available for a $20 donation) will receive a pink balloon representing the loss of a loved one, including our four-legged family members, and will release their balloon(s) to the heavens as they reach the finish line. Following the walk, all participants will be treated to a Track-Side BBQ.
* The “On Track To Beat Cancer “Hot Box” Award Feature in Race Four. All eight winners of this months’ “On Track To Beat Cancer” races, each a wearing pink racing blanket, will battle it out to determine this year’s Cancer Awareness Month Champion.
* An special on-track check presentation will take place after Race Five to all the local cancer charities and the winning Greyhound of the Cancer Awareness Award Feature.
The track will also hold its annual Monster Mash Halloween Bash, with free admission for those in costume starting at 11:30 a.m. and treat bags for the children. All contestants must report by 12:45 p.m. to the first-floor Information Stand. Preliminary judging will take place at that time. Winners will receive cash prizes in each category.
Food Specials will include: the “Frank ‘N Stein”, a Hot dog and small beer for $4.50 and the “Son of Frank ‘N Stein” - Hot dog and small soda for $3.50. (Specials good matinee and evening)
