If you grew up on Chinese food from a modest neighborhood joint with paper lanterns and Chinese-horoscope paper place mats, P.F. Chang¿s is Chinese on stylish steroids. Many locations have at their entrance 11-foot-tall horses, which symbolize the original Forbidden City in China. There are terra-cotta warriors along with panoramic, hand-painted murals. Most diners start with the signature chicken lettuce wraps: wok-seared chicken, mushrooms, green onions and water chestnuts served over crispy rice sticks inside crisp lettuce cups.
While the menu is pan-Asian, fans of Chinese food will find egg-drop soup, lo mein, Kung Pao chicken and Sichuan beef.
