GLASTONBURY - Wheels4kristina is a registered public charity that is raising funds on behalf Kristina Dowling so she can buy a new accessible van. Kristina, who grew up in Glastonbury and was a 2000 graduate of Glastonbyur High School, was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, commonly known as "Brittle Bone Disease." To date we have raised about one-half of the $50K needed.
Wheels4kristina will hold pig roast Sunday, Aug. 17, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Glastonbury Elks Club, 98 Woodland St. This is an event for the entire family. Guests will enjoy live music with two musical acts playing, a Horseshoe Tournament, thoroughbred racing in "A Day at the Races" in which you bet on the horses and win a chance at great prizes. There will be lots of food including an outdoor roasted pig. Cost is $25 for adults and free for kids 14 and younger. There will be a cash bar serving beer and wine only. Guests cannot bring alcohol to the event; this is a CT State law. Nonalcoholic drinks will be available for free.
Activities for the kids include a coloring contest, Jewelry making and a scavenger hunt. Kids will win prizes and all their events are free to enter.
Please help us to raise the remaining money we need while enjoying some good food, drink, music and fun. We are also looking for raffle prize donations and people who are interested in buying a stable of five horses in our day at the races event with a chance to win a large screen TV. There are 24 stables available; the stable with the most points will win that large screen TV.
