This 13-part adaptation of King's novel tells the story of a small New England town that gets cut off from the rest of the world when a transparent dome forms around it. The residents of Chester's Mill try to figure out how it got there and how to get rid of it as well as how to survive with dwindling resources. Here's hoping their oxygen supply isn't cut off too.
Like most apocalyptic stories--and let's face, being stuck with people you don't really like is pretty apocalyptic--"Under the Dome" also will present many a character-based conflicts as it explores how people react to stressful situations like this.
Niels Arden Oplev, director of the original "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," directed the first episode, which airs at 8 p.m. CT June 24 on CBS.
CBS Television Studios is producing the series in association Amblin Television. King, Neal Baer, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Stacey Snider, Jack Bender and Brian K. Vaughan, who wrote the TV adaptation, serve as executive producers.
