8 p.m. March 18, Sundance Channel Elisabeth Moss of "Mad Men" uses her own accent playing steely Sydney Det. Robin Griffin in this edgy, seven-part mystery from Jane Campion ("The Piano"). When a pregnant 12-year-old goes missing in her hometown, Griffin returns to the forbidding backwoods of New Zealand that hold disturbing memories for her. The investigation leads her on a twisty path to many eccentric characters, from the missing girl's drug-dealing dad (an intense Peter Mullan) to a bizarre mystic (Holly Hunter) who leads an all-female commune on land he claims is his. Moss is brilliant, lending Griffin vulnerability without allowing her to become too delicate to be a believable detective. In Moss's hands, Griffin isn't just uncovering the truth about the case and her hometown; she's picking away at her own painful scabs.
