Veronica Murtagh Founder and co-editor of, Hype Machine Hype Hotel showcase host This isn't your first rodeo¿what are you looking forward to at SXSW 2012? I'm excited to do SXSW entirely on my own terms this year. I'm headed down solo with a hotel room to myself. I listen to a wide variety of music, so I'm planning to catch a bit of everything--electronic, hip-hop, rock. I'm most interested in seeking out acts I've not seen live before. Of course there will be plenty of tacos, margaritas and meet-ups with online friends. You're hosting a party this year, but which others are must-attends? The best parties always end up being the ones you wander into by mistake. The FADER FORT, Mess With Texas and The Hype Machine regularly present large multi-day events that are safe bets for catching a wide variety of acts with a single RSVP. What's one piece of advice you would give a SXSW newbie? Wear comfortable shoes. See some acts you've never heard of, you just might return home with a new favorite band. Murtagh and No Modest Bear host a daytime showcase at SXSW March 16 at Hype Machine's Hype Hotel, featuring Young Man, Caged Animals, Jonquil, Blouse, Korallreven and Taken by Trees.
