'Modern Family' leads 1st Critics' Choice TV Awards list

"Modern Family" earned six nominations for the first Critics' Choice Television Awards. The ABC comedy led with the most nominations; "Mad Men" earned five, while "Boardwalk Empire" and "30 Rock" had four each.

The awards are given by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association, a new offshoot of the Broadcast Film Critics Association. Cat Deeley will host the inaugural awards ceremony at a luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel June 20.

ABC was the most nominated broadcast network with 16 bids, followed by NBC with 12. AMC and FX led nominations for cable networks, with nine each.
