The densely textured debut full-length by L.A. duo Inc. is designed for one purpose: getting you in the zen-like mindset needed for an all-night sex marathon.
If that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, may I recommend Carly Rae Jepsen?
Bandmates and brothers Daniel and Andrew Aged honed their skills as session musicians for everyone from Raphael Saadiq to 50 Cent. As Inc., the Ageds take their shot at reinventing how the R&B genre sounds in the 2010s, continuing the mission recently championed by artists like The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Solange, The Dream, and Miguel. "No World" manages to be both subtle in tone and aggressive in instrumentation.
While sparsely recorded, the album still sounds richly layered. Standout tracks “Angel,” “5 Days,” and “The Place” wouldn’t sound unfamiliar next to Janet, Jon B., and Groove Theory on your“90’s Quiet Storm” playlist.
The album lacks serious lyrical depth, but with such a direct, well-executed sound and theme, that isn’t a huge deal. Give this a listen and remember: Pants are optional.
