With "Downton Abbey" not returning until 2013, PBS is kindly providing viewers with two series to tide them over, "Call the Midwife" and "Upstairs, Downstairs." Based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth, this six-part drama focuses on the joys and hardships Jenny Lee, a young midwife in London's East End during the 1950s. I'm not sure Downton's Dowager Countess would approve, but it's a fascinating twist on the British period drama.
