Bill Murray's CTA tie inspires 2 more purchases

Bill Murray's appearance on Wednesday's "Late Show with David Letterman" has inspired two people to follow in his fashion footsteps.

Murray, 63, wore a CTA tie on the show, during which he took a selfie with Lady Gaga. Right after the show aired, two people bought the $45 tie on, the CTA said. Only one other person had purchased the tie this year.

Twelve people bought the same tie last year.

"The awesome CTA map tie that Bill Murray wore on the David Letterman show earlier this week clearly demonstrates Mr. Murray's impeccable taste in ties and long connection to Chicago," CTA spokeswoman Tammy Chase said in an e-mail.

Murray was born and raised in Wilmette and is a 1970s alumnus of The Second City in Chicago.
