6. 'Looper'

Rian Johnson followed the phenomenal "Brick" with the amusing but underwhelming "The Brothers Bloom." Good to see the filmmaker back with Joseph Gordon-Levitt for "Looper," which is exactly my kind of sci-fi. The time travel element only exists to serve a creative, accessible story about the power to change fate and the need to be loved. It's a movie that lets the mind and heart play together.

Click here for our full review
