You've probably heard Ryeisha Berrain's voice on tracks before -- she dropped her verses on DJ Blaqstarr's "Shake It To The Ground" when she was just 15 -- but with the Tuesday release of her first album, "Go! Pop! Bang!" the Baltimore-based rapper is about to make it huge. Here's five things to know about Rye Rye before she's the name on everyone's tongue.

1 -- She's got a pretty cool mentor
Rye Rye was discovered about 5 years ago by M.I.A., who signed the Baltimore rapper as the first artist on her N.E.E.T. label. This comes with some pretty big perks -- Rye Rye appeared on M.I.A.'s Kala tour and in the video for "Paper Planes."
2 -- She's already had some bumps in the road
Rye Rye was all set to tour with DJ A-Trak in 2009 when she discovered she was pregnant with her daughter, Kennidi, who was born that September. Her boyfriend also was paralyzed in a shooting earlier that summer, contributing to the delay of her debut album.
3 -- She's making major chart waves
The former club kid met a kindred spirit in Robyn last year. Their duet, "Never Will Be Mine," jumped its way to No. 11 on Billboard's dance chart. We're betting it's not her last time on that chart.
4 -- She's dropping movies too
Rye Rye made her big-screen debut earlier this year alongside Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in "21 Jump Street." She told Vulture that she and fellow dancer Tatum had a good time talking about his dance flick, "Step Up," but he can't dance like she can.
5 -- Her dream collaborator is awesome
When you've worked with artists as awesome as M.I.A., Robyn, Blaqstarr and Akon, who's next? A little Miss E, perhaps? "Missy [Elliott] is one of my biggest inspirations," she told Vulture. " I was imitating videos all the time and just wanting to be there. I learned everything from Missy Elliott's videos."Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
