'Scaregrounds' in Timonium draws large crowd, despite tornado warning

Friday evening's fierce weather didn't do much to deter the haunters or the haunted from participating in The Jokesters' Timonium Scaregrounds event.

Hosted at the home and around the neighborhood of The Jokesters — Steve Bauer and Marianne Wittelsberger - the event was up against heavy rains, thunder and lightning and a tornado warning minutes before it opened.

"Come 7:30, opening time, there was a line of customers down our driveway waiting to go through the Scaregrounds," Bauer, who played the creepy clown "Timoniac," said in an email Monday.

By the end, the cast, and Bauer and Wittelsberger's home, were covered in mud.

Bauer said the event, which benefited the Lutherville Volunteer Fire Department, drew about 150 people. The entry fee was $5.
