And then there were 13: Baltimore County updates list of school closures for Sept. 2

Baltimore County Public Schools announced on Thursday that 13 county schools — all middle and elementary schools — will remain closed on Friday, September 2.

The four middle schools and nine elementary schools remain without power because of last weekend's visit from Hurricane Irene, and will be closed Friday.

Middle schools that will be CLOSED are:

• Dumbarton

• Lansdowne

• Parkville

• Ridgely

Elementary schools that will be CLOSED are:

• Chadwick

• Fifth District

• Fort Garrison

• Oakleigh

• Pinewood

• Riderwood

• Stoneleigh

• Timonium

• Winand

The number is down from Thursday, when 18 schools were closed, and one other, Fifth District Elementary, had to close at 9:30 a.m. due to a power failure.

Friday will represent the first day of school for Johnnycake Elementary, Pot Springs Elementary, Victory Villa Elementary and West Towson Elementary.
