Lutherville: 'Adirondack Harper' carries her tune to Holy Comforter

Martha Gallagher, also known as "the Adirondack Harper," will present a concert, "Wild Harp and Winged Heart," at the Church of the Holy Comforter, 130 W. Seminary Ave., Lutherville, this Sunday, Feb. 5, at 1 p.m.

Gallagher is a talented harpist, singer and songwriter with more than 30 years of experience. She has performed with the group, The Chieftains, and has been featured on both television and radio.

Tickets will be available at the door for $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and free for children accompanied by adults. For more details, contact the church at 410-252-2711.

You may have seen the photos in the Jan. 18 edition of the Towson Times of youngsters enjoying roller skating at Ridgely Middle School.

Well, another fun evening of skating is coming up this Saturday, Feb. 4. Sponsored by Towsontowne Recreation Council and hosted for children ages 5 through 12, this fun event is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m.

The cost is $5 per session, and it is suggested that you bring your own skates. There are few loaners available. For more information, contact the Towsontowne Rec office at 410-887-5913.

Ridgely Middle School is a busy place this weekend. In addition to the skating, there will be the next installment of the RAC (Ridgely Activity Center) program for middle schoolers on Friday, Feb. 3, from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

Sponsored by the Lutherville-Timonium Recreation Council, these supervised events are held about once a month during the school year.

Students can pre-register online and enjoy activities including a DJ and dancing, board games, ping pong, gym activities and video games. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase.

Pre-registration online in encouraged to save money and avoid lines. Walk-in registrants pay an additional $10 processing fee. A parent of walk-in registrant must accompany the child to the registration table to complete forms.

Since volunteer support is essential to the success of the RAC, parents or guardians are required to be a chaperone at least one RAC event per season.

Lutherville Timonium Recreation Council softball registration for girls, ages 5 through 18, continues the next two Saturdays, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the activity room at Lutherville Elementary School. Please note that this is a new location.

A girls lacrosse clinic is being offered by the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks, to be held at the Raven's Training Facility in Owings Mills, on Sunday, Feb. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. Leading the clinic is Sonia LaMonica, head coach of the Towson University Women's Lacrosse Team, assisted by members of her squad.
