Gettysburg orchestra set to visit Towson, Dulaney high schools, then Goucher College

On Thursday, Jan.19, Gettysburg College Symphony Orchestra will visit both Towson High School and Dulaney High School to conduct a clinic and concert with each school.

The visit and clinics were arranged by former Dulaney High student Elizabeth Amrhein, a graduate of the Class of 2008. Amrhein, a bassoonist with the Gettysburg College Symphony Orchestra, is a member of Gettyburg's Class of 2012.

Another Dulaney graduate, Connelly Doan, is also a member of the Gettysburg orchestra, performing as a percussionist. A sophomore at Gettysburg, he graduated Dulaney in 2010.

In addition to the work with students, orchestra members will perform a free concert Thursday in the Kraushaar Auditorium at Goucher College, 1021 Dulaney Valley Road, at 7 p.m. The concert is open to the public.

The concert will include Mozart's " Overture to The Impressario," J.S. Bach's Concerto for Two Violins, and Czech composer Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 8.

The Gettysburg College Symphony Orchestra is an ensemble of the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College. The conservatory offers musicians a range of ensemble performance opportunities, music degrees, instruction and preparation as performers, scholars and teachers.
