Glad to see my pic peering out from the top corner of my column last week. Week before last, I was surprised to see Beverly smiling at me from both her Perryville column as well as from my Port Deposit column. Who would have thought I'd be a victim of "identity theft?" Ha!
Several of Cecil County's Fire Prevention Ambassadors were quite busy last weekend. On Saturday, Perryville's fire prevention ambassadors worked a quarter auction in Minker Hall, Perryville, proceeds from which benefited their programs. Then on Sunday, Junior Fire Chiefs, Little Misses, Junior Misses and Miss Fire Preventions from both Cecil and Harford County worked a basket bingo at Singerly Fire Hall, Elkton. The proceeds of the Sunday afternoon bingo benefited the Cecil County Ladies Auxiliary.
David Eder, son of Joyce and Dan Eder, Conowingo, enjoyed his birthday on March 8, while Justin Hodges celebrated his birthday on March 9, and our son, Craig, blew out the candles on his birthday cake on March 10.
The Cecil County Relay for Life committee and team captains met on Tuesday, March 11 at Elkton High School to continue the planning of the 2014 Relay for Life, scheduled for Friday, May 30 through Saturday, May 31 at Elkton High School. Our Relay for Life Team, "Bethany's Angels," will sponsor a Basket and Bag Bingo on Saturday, May 10 at Good Shepherd School in Perryville. This local favorite will ultimately benefit the American Cancer Society. Mark your calendars and plan to come!
Jen Rudd, Rowland Road, subtracted a year from her age on March 11 and Vicki Eaton enjoyed birthday wishes on March 13. On March 14, Jody Melinda Fitt celebrated her big day, as did Beverly Narvell, Theodore Road, and Eddie Robichaud, formerly of Port Deposit.
Congratulations to Cathy and Jerry Bradley, Waibel Road, as they celebrate their wedding anniversary today (March 14).
Knights of Columbus Council 2002 will sponsor a fish fry today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic School, 800 Aiken Ave., Perryville. The Knights will serve fish and shrimp each Friday during lent.
Boy Scout Troop 143 will sponsor a spaghetti dinner Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, Colora. Adults will eat for $8 while children 10 and under will eat for $4. There will be a bake sale as well as a silent auction table. Support your local Scouts!
The Ladies Auxiliary to the Water Witch Fire Company will meet on Monday, March 17 at House # for the regular monthly meeting. The annual awards banquet on March 22 and the Basket and Bag Bingo set for March 29 will be discussed.
The bingo will be at the VFW Post 8185, located at 520 Susquehanna River Road. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the games will begin at 7 p.m. The ticket cost is $15 per person and tickets can be reserved by calling Anne, 410-378-3338.
The Red Knights Motorcycle Club is sponsoring a cash raffle based on the Maryland Daily Lottery – for the entire month of June. The cost of a ticket is $5. The Red Knights just sponsored a fundraiser at the Havre de Grace Pizza Hut.
