The 2014 Cecil County Relay for Life "kicked-off" Saturday at the Moose Lodge, Elkton. This year's event will be held on Friday, May 29 to Saturday, May 30 on the track at Elkton High School. Teams from all over Cecil County gathered Saturday for munchies at the Moose Club. Kick-off Chairman Yaz Watters made good use of the Disney theme by dressing as "Minnie Mouse." Information was dispersed to all the team captains and cancer trivia buffs won prizes. The team captains will next meet on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. at Elkton High School. Want to start a team in Cecil County? I can point the way. Relay Chairman Sabrina Scholl from Rising Sun needs all the teams she can muster.

The officers and board of directors of the Port Deposit Heritage Corp. met Wednesday in the Paw Paw Museum. The board made plans for their annual general meeting coming up in April. The Union United Methodist Church, 440 Union Church Road, Elkton, is planning a basket bingo church fundraiser for Saturday. Doors will open at 3 p.m. and the games will begin at 4 p.m. Admission package will cost $10, with extra packs priced at $5 each. Bring a non-perishable food and get a free game. A basket bingo will be held at the American Legion Post 194, 336 Main Street, Rising Sun, on Sunday, Feb. 16. Tickets just went on sale for Good Shepherd's Annual St. Patrick's Day Bull and Oyster Roast. This event is a local favorite and will be held on Sunday, March 16 at the Port Deposit VFW Post 8185, 520 Susquehanna River Road. Doors will open at noon, food will be served from 1 to 5 p.m. and music will be provided from 2 to 6 p.m. Local caterers Pit Stop will provide the food. Ticket prices were increased for the first time in 10 years to $42 per person and can be reserved by calling Marie at the Parish Office, 410-642-6534. All tickets are sold in advance.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the Water Witch Fire Company will meet on Monday, Feb. 17 for their regular monthly meeting at House 2, Woodlawn Station.
