Play bingo for Longaberger baskets tonight in Perryville

An all Longaberger bingo will be played today Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 201 Mt. Royal Ave., Aberdeen. $12 per ticket, $5 extra. Doors open at 6 p.m., early bird at 6:45 p.m., bingo begins at 7 p.m. Sponsored by St. Paul's Lutheran Church – Ladies Retreat. A variety quarter auction will be held on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 201 Mount Royal Ave. in Aberdeen. Doors open at 6 p.m. Paddles are $2 each with a maximum of two paddles per person.

A Basket and Vera Bradley and Pandora Bingo will be held on Friday, Feb. 15 at the American Legion Bernard L Tobin Post 128, 44 N. Parke St. in Aberdeen. This event is sponsored by the Aberdeen High School Prom Committee. Doors open at 6 p.m. with an early bird at 6:45. Bingo begins at 7 p.m. Tickets available by calling Brenda Conjour, 410-273-7332. Food and drinks available for sale. Bring a canned good and /or non-perishable food items for bonus prize ticket.

Congratulations to Dr. Cydney Teal on being appointed by Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley to the board of trustees at Cecil College for a six-year term.

Christmas parade winners from the Cecil County Christmas Parade included the following Perryville groups: county high school bands: second place tie Perryville High and North East High; youth marching unit: first place to Good Shepherd School and second to Girl Scouts Service Area One.

Boys basketball: today (Friday) at Bo Manor, 7 p.m.; Jan. 28 at Elkton, 7 p.m.; Jan. 29 at home with Havre de Grace, 7 p.m.

Girls basketball: Jan. 28 with Elkton at home, 7 p.m.; Jan. 29 at Havre de Grace, 6:45 p.m.; and Jan. 31 at home with Bo Manor at 7 p.m.

Wrestling: Jan. 28 at Edgewood with Fallston, 4 p.m.; Jan. 30 at Patterson Mill, 5:30 p.m.

Five members of Havre de Grace Eastern Star Chapter 27 attended the second annual Grand Chapter of Maryland Ways and Means Fashion Show at the Scottish Rite Temple in Baltimore. I attended along with chapter members Carolyn Mathias, Associate Matron; Diane Smith, Treasurer; Louise Fagan, Chaplain and Aileen Squires, Marshal. Also from Victory Chapter 40 attending were Bill Gun, Associate Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of Maryland, and Catherine Phillips Chapter Associate Matron. Catherine and her daughter Megan were models in the fashion show. From Harford Chapter No. 83 members present were the Worthy Grand Matron of Maryland Debbie Hribar; Becky Gjerdahl, Worthy Matron of Harford; Ed Ford, Worthy Patron; Edsel and Ellen Crouse, Jean Penley, Secretary; Brenda Compher, Associate Matron; Phyllis Pahutski, Star Point Esther, and Beverly Geisler who is serving as Grand Ruth of the Grand Chapter of Maryland OES.

Condolences are sent to Joyce Caldwell and her family on the passing of their beloved Mother Gladys Johnson.
