Aberdeen: Lots of December happenings for seniors

Here we are in the last month of 2012.

Families are gathering, and there is much to do for Christmas gift shopping and parties!

The end of a year always means more serious duties, as well. As for the Aberdeen Senior Center, there are some closings because of the holidays.

Class session ends for the fall season today (Friday). From 10 to 11 a.m. the men will have their usual discussion group with Mr. Dorsey. As with every Friday, there will be a Quilting Workshop from 10 a.m. until noon.

On Monday, Dec. 10 there will be the usual Monday Knit and Crochet Studio from 10 a.m. until noon.

On Tuesday, Dec. 11, there will be Christmas Bingo with the Golden Age Club from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. As with every Tuesday, there will be the New Spanish Workshop with Mrs. Stevens from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Then there will be a change in the usual scheduling, so listen up! On Wednesday, Dec. 12, Thursday, Dec. 13, and Friday Dec. 14, the Aberdeen Senior Center will be closed for staff training.

On Monday, Dec. 17, there will be Senior Council Meeting.

On Tuesday, Dec. 19, there will be a big Christmas party with Santa and celebrations of birthdays and anniversaries from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

On Thursday, Dec. 20, there will be bingo with nutrition from 10 a.m. until noon.

Friday, Dec. 21 is going to be another big day! From 10 to 11 a.m. there is a Veterans Discussion Group.

A big Christmas birthday party is from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 21.

On Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25 the center will be closed for Christmas.

The Center is at 7 Franklin St. in Aberdeen. It is open normally from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The number to call for information is 410-272-5666.
