April means springtime is in full swing, and it is a very busy month in Aberdeen.
This is a very beautiful time for Easter celebrations everywhere. Come out and enjoy every bit of it. Time for our families, our churches and the beautiful countryside.
At the Aberdeen Senior Center, activities fill the days. Today (Friday, April 6) and every Friday, there is quilting workshop from 9 a.m. to noon. The day is a very busy one with men's discussion group from 10 to 11 a.m. and memoir and journal writing is also from 10 to 11 a.m. Getting ready for Easter will be Hippy Hoppy Easter Celebration with hot cross buns from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Today will also feature kite flying, egg decorating, basket raffles, jelly bean count, basket door prizes and the Easter blanket raffle. What and eventful day at the senior center!
Every Monday there is the Knit and Crochet Studio from 10 a.m. to noon.
Every Tuesday the Golden Age Club meets from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The first and third Tuesdays the Diabetes Support Group with Upper Chesapeake meets from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Think about spring, think circus. On April 10 at 12:30 p.m., there will be "Let's Go to the Circus with John Butler."
Then, on April 13, from 10 to 11 a.m., the "new veterans" discussion group with Mark will be featured at the senior enter.
On April 16, The Senior Council meeting is from 11 a.m. to noon April 16 and bingo and nutrition is from 12:30 to 2 p.m. April 17.
On April 19, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. there will be body jam dancing with Carol Ripken from the Arena Club.
On April 26 at 10:30 a.m. is the CPR workshop with Janet Michael. Later in the day, at 12:30 p.m., the big birthday celebration complete with cake and ice cream will complete the busy day.
Also keep in mind that Aberdeen will hold the annual Earth Day on April 21! Festival Park off Howard Street on the east and North Parke Street to the west will have all the good activities of spring games and food, civic groups and displays. Great day for environmentalists, and fun!
Earth Day is hosted by the City of Aberdeen, supported by Harford Glen Environmental Center, the Aberdeen Lions Club, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen and C. Milton Wright high schools and the Anita Leight Estuary Center. More details before the event!
