Eagle soars from tree carving

Artist Jim Calder is about ten feet off the groundas he carves a bald eagle into a dead tree in the backyard of White Hall residents Eileen and Howard Webster, who commissioned Calder to create the carving in honor of their son Patrick, who achieved Eagle Scout rank last year. Calder works about eight hours a day, seven days a week on such commissions, the design of which comes mainly from his instincts, he says.
