The question that will be forever asked about Novell Jackson of Havre de Grace is how good he might have been on the football field if he has stayed academically eligible at the University of Nebraska where he received a scholarship in 1983. A fast and punishing running back, Jackson helped lead Havre de Grace High to its second of three state football championships in 1981. Legendary Cornhusker coach Tom Osborne personally recruited Jackson, who moved up on the depth chart as a fullback after his freshman year but never played because of his eligibility issues. Regardless, many people who follow high school ball in Harford consider Jackson the best running back ever in local high school ball, and it's hard to argue otherwise.
