Hereford High School students recognized

Hereford High School principal Andrew Last held a luncheon on Oct. 19 to congratulate 17 seniors who were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. The students scored well in PSAT tests they took during their junior year.

Megan Cason, Jesse Clarke, Christine Dreyer and Connor O'Rourke are among 16,000 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists across the United States. They are now eligible to become finalists for scholarships. Next spring, some 8,300 finalists will be chosen to receive a scholarships funded by 440 sponsors and by the National Merit Scholarship Corp.

Another 13 Hereford seniors are among 34,000 National Merit Commended students. They are not eligible for scholarships, but are recognized for outstanding academic promise.

They are: Henry Bison, Jessica De Groot, Hannah Doxzen, Megan Fantom, Elijah Ginsburg, Elijah Giuliano, Dana Guth, Rachel Guthall, Aaron Leininger, Jonathan Luckin, Paige McMurtrie, Amanda Rae and Benjamin Vantran.
