Baldwin man missing since Oct. 5

Maryland State Police are asking for help from the public to locate a Baltimore County man who has been missing from his home since last week.

The man is identified as Michael Diffenderffer, 52, of the 12000 block of Fork Rd., Baldwin. He is a white male, 6'2" and 235 pounds. He is believed to be driving a silver 2005 Acura MDX. The sport utility vehicle has not been located.

His wife went to the Maryland State Police Bel Air barracks to report him missing just before midnight on Oct. 5.

He was last seen at home about 2:15 p.m. that day. She said she found a note from him later in the day saying he had gone out and would be back for dinner.

Police have conducted extensive searches for Diffenderffer. He is known to visit park areas in Harford and Baltimore counties, as well as western Maryland. Maryland State Police helicopters have searched those areas. Police departments throughout the East Coast have been notified and are on the lookout for him.

There were no signs of foul play or a struggle at Diffenderffer's home, police said. His family continues to cooperate with investigators. Troopers have interviewed numerous relatives and friends during this investigation. A motive for his disappearance has not been established.

Anyone with information should contact State Police at 410-879-2101.
