Missing horse, Junior, found dead in neighbor's pool

A horse missing from a Hereford farm since Oct. 16 was found dead in a swimming pool not far from the farm on Oct. 23.

"Junior," a 7-year-old chestnut gelding, was found in the pool behind a house on York Road, said Gloria Finglass, who had been boarding Junior at her farm for her niece, Kelly Strucko, 15.

The pool is across York Road from the Finglass property.

Finglass said a pool maintenance company found the horse and went next door to Kingsdene Nursery & Garden Center because the pool owners were not home.

"Everybody at Kingsdene knew Junior was missing, so they called me," Finglass said.

She said five men and equipment from her landscape company in New Freedom, Pa, hauled the horse out of the pool. They then took Junior to her farm, where he was buried.

"Sunday was just a horrible day, but now we can stop looking for him," she said.
