Bruce and Sherifa Clarke, owners of Laurrapin Grille in Havre de Grace, love great food. Specifically, they love cooking great food in Harford County. From the farmers to the diners, the Clarkes are fans of the community.
Chef Bruce Clarke works closely with Harford County farmers to find the best ingredients, sometimes changing the menu at the last minute to accommodate a particularly good find.
“It just depends on what our farmers are producing at the time,” says Sherifa Clarke.
“I’m not sure who we would be without our farmers and agriculture. They’re part of what makes our county a wonderful place to live.”
The sense of community is just as strong in the Laurrapin dining room, where guests are “open-minded and adventurous,” according to Sherifa Clarke.
“I have to hand it to the customers,” she says. “They’re so loyal and believe in what we do. It’s a wonderful partnership.”
Laurrapin Grille’s owners take the environment seriously. The restaurant only serves sustainable seafood and proteins purchased from local farmers, it purchases 100 percent renewable electricity, and all of its hot water is heated via solar panels.
