It's not too soon to think about joining swim club [West Laurel]

It's been chilly but spring is here! The kids are all on spring break, and we are celebrating the renewed beauty of the Earth.

This would be a good time to think about joining the West Laurel Swim Club. Summertime may seem far away with these frigid temperatures but swim team registration is in the beginning of May.

Some of our family's most joyous memories evolve around our membership in the West Laurel Swim Club. Our time as Wahoos on the swim team showed us many good times. Many lasting friendships were made at the pool.

If you are thinking about joining the West Laurel Swim Club, you can get $100 off the first year's maintenance fee if you join by April 15. Contact Greg Karpman for details Plans are underway for an exciting 2013 competitive swim season. All swim club members, ages 5 to 18, who pass the deep water swim proficiency test, can be a Wahoo.

Bond Mill Elementary School will be holding registration for kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year the week of April 15 through 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the school office. Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 1. Registration must be done by the parent or legal guardian.

If you have any questions, call Sandee Leibson at 301-497-3600.

Springtime also means spring cleaning. The West Laurel Civic Association and the Waste Management Division of Prince George's County will sponsor Dumpster Day on April 20. It will be held at the West Laurel Community Building, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Three Dumpsters will be provided in the front parking lot. Volunteers will be on hand from the West Laurel Civic Association to direct traffic and to help unload your junk. No electronics or hazardous waste will be accepted.

The West Laurel Civic Association continues to provide help to seniors for pickups on Dumpster Day. For assistance, seniors can call volunteer Jason Float at 443-878-6360. If you would like to help Float and John Hebert out with senior help, please call Hebert at 301-549-1129.

Have a blessed and happy Easter.
