Russett: Back-to-School Expo reconnects parents and students with school system

It's hard to believe students will be returning to school later this month. Where has the time gone?

With that said, the Anne Arundel County Public School system's Office of School and Family Partnerships is partnering with Abundant Life Church, located at 7305 E. Furnace Branch Road, in Glen Burnie, to host the free Back-to-School Expo on Aug. 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The expo will be part of the church's annual Super Saturday Kids Carnival, a free community event that will feature a water slide, a mega sports obstacle course, more than 25 game booths, food and more. Anne Arundel County Public School employees will be giving away backpacks, school supplies, sharing information and answering questions.

Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade must be present in order to receive a backpack.
