Project Cinderella uplifts spirits at Fort Meade

The USO's Project Cinderella doesn't rely on a handsome prince and pumpkin carriage to uplift women's spirits. But it does realize the importance of a nice dress, and maybe some shoes to match.

The private, nonprofit USO helps dress military women for formal functions by providing dresses, shoes and accessories at no charge, and works to boost the morale of women serving in the military and those who are military spouses with a special day of pampering.

On Saturday, April 6 at McGill Training Center on Fort Meade, military women will be treated to interactive workshops, dress and jewelry giveaways and a Princess Tea Party for girls.

The Fort Meade USO is collecting dresses, purses and shoes that are in top condition for the one-day event. If possible, items should be dry-cleaned before donating. Donations are requested prior to April 1.
