Laurel's annual open house offers entertainment, information

The Laurel Civic Improvement Committee has an afternoon of entertainment on tap during its annual city of Laurel open house, Sunday, March 3 at the Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road.

Entertainment geared for children includes a balloon twister, clown, magic shows and face painting. Students from the Laurel School of Music will perform and instructors from the Magnificent Body exercise studio, including Laurel's health and wellness ambassador, Carl Powell, will offer free classes from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Classes include Pilates; Barefoot Boogie line dances; a workout for kids, with Powerup Sports and Training instructors; and stretches to help release stress.

In addition to entertainment, the open house features displays by local nonprofit organizations, clubs and businesses. Local elected officials from the city, county and state will attend and be available to speak with constituents. Refreshments will be served.
