The Maryland City Recreation Council Mustang basketball program holds its end-of-season banquet Friday, March 16, at Brock Bridge Elementary. Team members are encouraged to wear their jerseys and bring out their families in support.

The Mustang soccer season kicks off this weekend as the travel teams begin county competition on Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. Practices for the in-house soccer program begin with Meet the Coaches Night on Wednesday, March 21. Emails will go out to all registered players with the time for players to arrive. Registrations for the in-house soccer program and the baseball program are still being accepted.

For more information, contact my husband, John Venit, by email at or call 301-725-7711.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools are administering the Maryland State Assessment tests to students in grades three through five for two weeks. The reading portion occurred this week. Next Tuesday and Wednesday, March 20-21, the math portion will be administered.

Please ensure that your student has received a healthy breakfast before school and a good night's sleep.

Following the MSAs, Brock Bridge Elementary School PTA will host its spring book fair, March 21-28. Support your students and school through the book fair. It is a great source for picking up some books for summer reading.

Finally, the Laurel Loyal Order of the Moose thanks everyone who participated in this year's Legacy of the Moose event. A wonderful time was had by all and more than $1,000 was raised to help support the children at Mooseheart. Thank you to everyone for your generosity.
