Laurel City Council member Michael Leszcz has been appointed to the National League of Cities 2013 Transportation Infrastructure and Service Steering Committee by NLC President Marie Lopez Roberts, according to information released by the city Friday.
The committee is responsible for developing policy positions on issues involving transportation, including planning, funding, safety and security of public transit, streets and highways, aviation, railroads and ports. Leszcz earlier served on the committee from 2008 through 2010.
Leszcz, who serves as the at-large member on the City Council, is in his eighth term on the council. During his tenure, he has served as council president six years.
