Laurel High Teachers Kickball Team Champions

BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR KICKBALL TEAM for bringing home the first place trophy at the Side by Side Charity Kickball Tournament held Saturday. Our rag tag team of oldies but goodies (Principal Jones, Giuliani, S. Johnson) and young talent (Langston and Jameson Williams, children of Ms. Williams) defeated a majority team of teenagers and early twenties in the Championship Game. We survived injuries to Mr. HInes (hamstring pull) and Ms. Wenchel (calf strain). Despite a lack of players, because some folks who promised to play did not show up. Our team showed a lot of grit, competitiveness and heart in pulling out the win in the last inning of the championship game. I am proud to say all of our weekend warriors made it to work today despite the pain and soreness (we took a lot of Advil and Tylenol) from the weekend games. Big Thanks to and Congratulations go out to Ms. Rivera (first time ever playing kickball), Ms. Morris (playing a stellar right field), Ms. Williams (holding down Center field), Mr. Hines (never quitting even when he could not run), Ms. Wenchel (running on a strained calf and never complaining), Mr. Giuliani (pitching every game and getting on base 6 out of 9 times), Mr. Dent (making all star plays at first base), Ms. Johnson (shown true grit after slipping on the grass and belly flopping in the first inning of the first game) and Langston and Jameson Williams (for stepping up when we needed players). As I previously stated, we had a great time for a great cause and next year we will be back to defend our title. --Laurel High Principal Dwayne Jones
