New businesses coming to Main Street

Main Street lost two businesses in recent months, but they are quickly being replaced with similar establishments.

After more than 40 years at 310 Main St., Pal Jack's Pizza closed in December. It will soon be replaced by Lamia, a restaurant that will serve pizza and Mediterranean cuisine. The owner has applied for a use and occupancy permit and the restaurant is expected to open soon.

Main Street also lost the High's Dairy Store convenience store in the 500 block. Karl Brendle, the city's economic development director, said the company's lease was up and another convenience store will take its place.

That store is Nisha Food, which will operate as a convenience store, selling many of the same goods offered at High's.

Two other High's Dairy Stores in Laurel — one on Sandy Spring Road and one in North Laurel on All Saints Road — have also closed.
