Laurel Regional's first baby of 2013 was an early surprise

The first baby born in 2013 at Laurel Regional Hospital was an early surprise for his Greenbelt parents.

Keber Reinoso arrived at 1:59 a.m. Jan. 1, weighing in at 6 pounds, 9.2 ounces, according to a release from the hospital. Keber is the son of Kenia, 27, and Yaber Reinoso, 30, of Greenbelt and joins his big sister.

In the information released from the hospital, Kenia Reinoso said her actual due date was Jan. 14. "However, I had spontaneous rupture membranes so I delivered early," she said in the release.

Keber was named by combining the first two letters of his mom's name and the last three letters of his dad's name, according to information from the hospital. Hospital staff welcomed the first baby of the year with a diaper "cake" and gift certificates, pacifiers and rattles that they had brought in to welcome the first baby delivered at the hospital in 2013. Mom and baby received flowers and a gift basket
