'Nobody kill anybody': Murder-free weekend urged in Baltimore

Two arrested during Laurel sobriety checkpoint on St. Patrick's Day weekend

Laurel Police reported 508 vehicles passed through the department's St. Patrick's Day weekend sobriety checkpoint at Route 1 northbound and Main Street, and there were two arrests.

One person was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, and a second person was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.

The checkpoint was held from 11 p.m. Saturday, March 16 to 1:30 a.m. Sunday, March 17. Police gave those who drove through the checkpoint information on awareness of drunk driving.

Police departments in Prince George's, Howard and Ann Arundel counties participated in a statewide drunk driving enforcement operation called Project SOLO, Saving Our Loved Ones.

Howard County Police reported 21 arrests for DUI during the increased patrols over St. Patrick's Day weekend.
