Guard shot at Laurel grocery store expected to make full recovery

A security guard at the Bottom Dollar Food Store on Laurel Bowie Road was shot after encountering two masked gunmen in the store Thursday evening.

Prince George's County Police said the security guard sustained non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

The two masked gunmen entered the store and disarmed the guard, police said.

Police said officers responded to the store, located in the 12600 block of Route 197, at 8 p.m. and found the guard suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police do not know at this time how many times the guard was shot.

Police said investigations are continuing into whether anything was stolen, and are working to obtain video surveillance of the incident.

There were no other reported injuries, police said.
