Hey kids — 2,000 Easter eggs await you at Shrine of St. Anthony [West Friendship]

The Friars of the Shrine of St. Anthony, 12290 Folly Quarter Road, invite the community for an Easter egg hunt at the Shrine on March 30 at 10 a.m.

The Friars have hidden more than 2,000 eggs. Families and children, laden with baskets ready to be filled, are welcome to explore the Shrine grounds and Courtyard in search of the eggs.

Pastor DaeHwa Park of St. James United Methodist Church invites the community to Easter weekend services, including a Good Friday service on March 29 at 7:30 p.m. in which worshipers will follow the seven stations of the Cross.

On March 31, the community is also invited to participate in a Sunrise Service in the Chapel in the Woods that will begin at 6:30 a.m. An Easter Worship in the Sanctuary will be held at 10 a.m.

Sports and altruism are the name of the game in the Johnson household.

Peggy and Bob Johnson's son Eric, a baseball player for the Glenelg High School team, is participating in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Games, which raise funds for cancer research.

The benefit games feature the junior varsity Glenelg Gladiators vs. the River Hill High School Hawks and the varsity Glenelg Gladiators vs. varsity Reservoir High Gators at Joe Cannon Stadium in Anne Arundel County on April 22.

The junior varsity game is at 3:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m. Expect concessions, T-shirts, fan hoopla and lots of enthusiasm on the part of the athletes and the organizers.

Sandi Hawkins loves the creative chaos involved with preparing for the annual West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary yard sale.

Don't forget that March 30, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is the sixth annual Daffodil Days at the Whipps Cemetery historic garden park in Ellicott City.

Daffodil and hyacinth potted plants, Easter lilies, hydrangeas, Virginia bluebells, horticultural presentations by Master Gardeners, refreshments, a raffle for a native plant and support of this historic site are all part of the fun. Whipps Cemetery is at 3651 St. John's Lane in Ellicott City.
