Plenty to do in June at North Laurel 50+ Center [North Laurel/Savage]

The North Laurel 50+ Center will host several activities during the month of June.

Brain Fitness will be on Mondays and Tuesday, June 10 to 18, from 11 a.m. to noon. Cost is $12.

The Father's Day Picnic will be on June 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy lunch and live music. Cost is $3 plus meal contribution.

The Flag Day Celebration, conducted by members American Legion Post 300, is June 14, from 11 a.m. to noon. Free program.

Reservoir High School was awarded the Maryland State Chapter of the Year Award for its Best Buddies Club, which provides activities and opportunities for friendships to form between intellectually disabled people and their peers. They will now compete for the National Chapter Award.

Savage Fest is Saturday, June 1, beginning at 9 a.m. with a parade that ends at the Baldwin Commons, where the fest is being held. There will be plenty of vendors, live music, a petting zoo and pony rides. The fest will be held at 9035 Baltimore St., in Savage.

Guilford Elementary fifth-graders held their Simulated Congressional Hearing and did an outstanding job. Every fifth-grader in their school testifies to a panel of judges about their knowledge about the Constitution. What a wonderful day, learning about our Constitution from our experts.

The last Reservoir High Gator Academy's free tutoring program will be June 2 at the North Laurel Community Center, 2 to 4 p.m.

Resurrection of the Lord's Indoor Yard Sale is June 1, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come out for treasures, excellent food and pick up your raffle tickets. First prize is $3,000. The church is at 8402 Brock Bridge Road.

The North Laurel Savage Multi-Service Center will host its annual Community Fair on June 8, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Whiskey Bottom Shopping Center. The fair has many agencies that can offer assistance to members of the community. They will also be offering free health and dental screenings. For more information, call 410-888-8893.
