The portion of Woodstock road closed due to a train derailment was reopened at 5:47 p.m. Wednesday, police spokesperson Mary T. Phelan said.

A CSX train hauling lumber partially derailed in Woodstock shortly before 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, causing temporary road closures. Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services officials said a singe car hauling lumber momentarily derailed before returning to the tracks moments later.

The derailment caused a portion of Woodstock Road, just south of the Baltimore County line, to be closed for approximately five hours.

Although fire and rescue officials said no hazardous materials were released, residences along Woodstock Road and the Woodstock Inn were evacuated.
