Howard County Library System news was front-page worthy [Letter]

On page 6 of the June 13 Columbia Flier, on lower half of the page, the headline was "Howard Library System receives magazine's honor." A very innocuous and deceptive lead to announcing that Howard County Library was named 2013 Library of the Year! Our library is designated number one out of 21,000 public libraries in the United States, Canada and Mexico by the well-regarded Library Journal and the Flier doesn't have even a banner notice on the front page, or an honest, congratulatory headline for the article? Kittleman's announcement, two retiring athletic administrators and a paid ad are more deserving of front-page notice than a number one ranking in the country? I question the editorial judgment that appears to deliberately downplay a major achievement by a beloved institution in our county. Three cheers for the Howard County Library System! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!
