Registration ends Aug. 15 for the Elkridge Youth Organization fall soccer program. Register early as some leagues fill up. EYO soccer is a co-ed recreational program that places emphasis on instruction, fitness and fun. Games are played at Rockburn Park. Players ages 4-18 are welcome; there are no tryouts for the recreational leagues.

The AYRA travel teams are holding tryouts:

10-U: 10 a.m., Aug. 11 and 25 at Hammond Middle School, field 1.

11-U (born after April 30, 2001): 2 p.m., Aug. 12 and 19, at Hammond Park.

12-U (born after April 30, 2000): 2 p.m., Aug. 12 and 19 at Hammond Park.

13-U: 2 p.m., Aug. 5 and 18 at Schooley Mill Park, field 3.



The following Western Howard County travel baseball teams will hold tryouts for the spring season.

The WHC Renegades support travel teams from 9-U through 22-U. Teams participate in the MABA, Baltimore Metro, Eddie Brooks and Maryland Collegiate Baseball League. Tryouts began in late July and will continue through September. The Teach My Daughter to Play Basketball Clinic will be held Aug. 23-25 at Lake Elkhorn Middle School, in Columbia. The clinic is for girls ages 9-13. Evening sessions (6:30-8:30 p.m.) will be held Aug. 23 and 24; Aug. 25 is a morning session (10 a.m.-noon). Applicants may attend one, two or all three sessions. Cost: $40 per session. The fourth annual Celebration of Sports Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 5 at the Timbers at Troy Golf Course. The Howard County/Carroll County Table Tennis Club will host a table tennis and chess day camp in the Carrolltown Center in Eldersburg Aug. 20-24. All ages and levels of play welcome. The Maryland Stars Girls Fastpitch program will hold tryouts for their 2012-13 teams Aug. 5, 12 and 19 at Mayeski Park, Sykesville. The Stars have teams for 10-U through 18-U. Terror Fastpitch will hold softball tryouts for girls age 10 and under to age 18 on Aug. 12 and 19. Tryouts will be held at Heritage Farm Park, Devilbiss Bridge Road, Walkersville, MD. The times are:

10-U and 12-U: 9–10:15 a.m.

14-U and 16-U: 10:30–11:45 a.m.

18-U: 12–1:15 p.m.

Players should bring their equipment and arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled start times to complete paperwork and warm up. Pitchers and catchers should plan on staying an additional 15 minutes.
