The First Tee of Howard County is looking for foursomes to play in the 11th annual golf tournament at Fairway Hills Golf Club on Aug. 8. Check-in begins at 11 a.m. with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The fourth annual Celebration of Sports Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 5 at the Timbers at Troy Golf Course. The tournament is held in conjunction with the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks' Celebration of Sports. Sept. 28 is the entry deadline. Cost: $85 (per individual), $340 (per team). Registration ends Aug. 15 for the Elkridge Youth Organization fall soccer program. Register early as some leagues fill up. EYO soccer is a co-ed recreational program that places emphasis on instruction, fitness and fun. Games are played at Rockburn Park. Players ages 4-18 are welcome; there are no tryouts for the recreational leagues.

Thunder Cruzeiro (rising U-13 girls, born on or after Aug. 1, 1999) are looking for two or three hard-working players to add to the roster. Supplemental tryouts will be held the rest of the summer. Cruzeiro will play in WAGS Division 2 this fall. The team trains and plays its home games in Columbia/Western Howard County. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if interested in trying out.
The Ellicott City Patriots Poms recreation dance and spirit team is looking for young dancers and girls interested in building their skills and performing for the Patriots fall sporting events. Register via http://www.ecpatriots.com.

The WHC Renegades support travel teams from 9-U trough 22-U. Teams participate in the MABA, Baltimore Metro, Eddie Brooks and Maryland Collegiate Baseball League. Tryouts begin at the end of July and will continue through September. The team will play a limited fall schedule before competing in the MABA spring league and a number of local tournaments as well as the Cooperstown Dream Park next summer. The Teach My Daughter to Play Basketball Clinic will be held Aug. 23-25 at Lake Elkhorn Middle School, in Columbia. The clinic is for girls ages 9-13. Terror Fastpitch will hold softball tryouts for girls age 10 and under to age 18 on Aug. 12 and 19. Tryouts will be held at Heritage Farm Park, Devilbiss Bridge Road, Walkersville, MD. The times are:
10-U and 12-U: 9–10:15 a.m.
14-U and 16-U: 10:30–11:45 a.m.
18-U: 12–1:15 p.m.
Players please bring your equipment and arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled start times to complete paperwork and warm up. Pitchers and catchers should plan on staying an additional 15 minutes.
