Around the league

North Harford edged Hammond, 40-39, Friday night in one of the most closest matches of the season in Maryland wrestling.

The match started as Hammond's Bryan Overton, ranked No. 6 in the state at 160 pounds, edged North Harford's Logan Smith, 7-5.

North Harford then went on to win seven of the next nine matches to build a 39-15 lead with only four bouts remaining. But Hammond rallied furiously with quick pins by Darren Ketchum (132), Evan Nuss (138), Anthony Solis (145) and Justin Taylor (152) to tie the match at 39-39.

Each team had won seven bouts, and each team had the same number of pins (5), forfeits (1), tech falls (0), major decisions (0), first-points scored and near falls. So the match was decided by most takedowns, which North Harford won, 14-11.
