Centennial volleyball completes undefeated regular season with 3-1 win over Howard

Centennial's Trisha Mockapetris led the Eagles to victory on senior night, 3-1, over visiting Howard.

Mockapetris recorded 10 kills and 11 digs as the Eagles (14-0) cruised to victory, 25-18, 25-17, 7-25, 25-14.

It was Mockapetris' eighth match of the season with double-digit kills. Senior Lexi White-Torruellas was also a key contributor, with 32 assists, and senior Hanna McKown had eight digs.

Centennial's underclassmen also came through on senior night.

Sophomore Meghan Kelley (9) and junior Kristen Ritchie (7) followed Mockapetris on the kills leaderboard, and junior middle hitters Katerina Havlik (4) and Jessie Link (3) combined for seven more. Kelley also led the team with three aces and two blocks.

Junior libero Cara Walsh had 12 digs.

Howard junior hitter Sydney Biniak led the way for the Lions with three kills and a block in the first set. Allison Holland also had three kills in the first set.

The volleyball playoff draw will be announced on Monday, with the opening round scheduled to begin next Thursday.

Around the league

Atholton swept Oakland Mills, 25-8, 25-15, 25-10.

Daria Hypolite led the Scorpions with seven kills, and Heidi Larsen had ten assists in the losing effort.

Marriotts Ridge celebrated its senior night with a three-set sweep of visiting Hammond.

Mt. Hebron swept Wilde Lake, 25-21, 25-19, 25-22. It was the Vikings' tenth win of the season.

Reservoir swept Long Reach in three sets, 25-10, 25-10, 25-20.

River Hill avenged a five-set loss to Glenelg from earlier this season, with the Hawks winning on Thursday in three sets, 25-17, 25-23, 25-14.

River Hill's win forced a three-way tie for second place between the Hawks, Glenelg and Mt. Hebron, which each finished 10-3.
