Man pleads guilty to negligent manslaughter in Elkridge car accident

A Linthicum Heights teenager pleaded guilty to two counts of negligent manslaughter in Howard County Circuit Court on Monday in connection with an Elkridge car accident that killed two teenagers last November, according to State's Attorney spokesman Wayne Kirwan.

Dale Kirk Audet II, 19, of the 100 block of Nursery Road in Linthicum Heights, was the driver of a 2008 Pontiac G6 that crashed into a tree on Lawyers Hill Road and killed passengers Jeffrey Ryan Giles, 19, of Linthicum, and Jonathon Lloyd Deckman, 18, of Severn, on Nov. 25, 2011.

According to the statement of facts accepted in the case, Audet was traveling close to 70 mph in a 30-mph speed zone when the car flew into the air and crashed into two trees.

Police said Deckman and Giles were not responsive when officer arrived at the scene, and the two teens died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.

In addition to Audet, two female passengers survived the accident.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, the prosecution will request a sentence of six years, suspending all but 18 months to be served at the Howard County Detention Center, followed by six months of home detention and five years of supervised probation, Kirwan said.

Howard County Circuit Court Judge William V. Tucker set a sentencing date for Dec. 19.
